National Guitar 1928 Style 2 Tricone Rd. Neck

SOLD

This amazing early 1928 Style 2 tricone is one of the nicest vintage german silver bodies you'll ever see. The original neck was badly damaged and cracked by heat in storage. I've included a series of photo's of the process of building the neck from scratch. Since we are starting from scratch, we are able to make several modern design improvements. The scale length has been lengthened to 25.5" (vs. 25) so the 12th fret now meets at the top of the body. (John Dopera always regretted not doing this from the beginning on his tricone design) We've included an adjustable truss rod. We're using a fantastic Macassar ebony fingerboard that's highly figured. We're using a 12" radius with modern frets, making it much more comfortable to play. The beautiful mahogany neck is being coated in several coats of true nitro lacquer. This fingerboard on the Style 2 will also have cream binding, unlike the first one shown. Original cones are in mint shape, as seen in pics. We've also gone with a C shaped neck vs. the sharp V these originally came with. This is the best of both worlds. A super nice early Style 2 engraved body, original cones and T bridge, mated with a modern neck with modern scale and features. Serial number 0418. Original neck will be shipped w the guitar for posterity.
